Tokyo to Osaka *UPDATE*

You guys were probably wondering about that story we posted a while back about the 12 riders who were going to ride 350 miles from Tokyo to Osaka right? Well the international group of 12 arrived in Japan a few days ago and are already 3 days deep. So far they've gone 150 miles and are probably set to do another 50-100 tomorrow. Don't forget to check out their progress and/or donate to the cause on their news feed.

Remember how another group of riders flew out to Japan recently and started their journey from Tokyo to Osaka? Well a similar group of 7 riders are doing something a bit more domestic. They're journeying from San Francisco to Los Angeles.

Alleycrit Race - Panhandle - June 2009

Video of a recent bike race that took place in SF on June 20th. These races are always held in open traffic and lean toward the idea that the challenge is the course not the other riders. Basically get from checkpoint to checkpoint using every shortcut or alleyway in the city you can in order to reach that point before everyone else. Knowing the track is the key to victory is one way to put it. Anyway hope to see more footage of the guys behind these 4 monsters soon and congratulations to the victors.

The boy who sees without eyes

This is a documentary about a boy named Ben Underwood who has taught himself to use echo location to navigate around the world. Ben Underwood is blind, but has managed to do some truly extraordinary feats. It's extraordinary what the human body and spirit is capable of I guess it is true when they say nothing is impossible. This is broken into 5 parts but you can watch the rest on youtube and I highly recommend it if you have some time it's pretty breathtaking.

Caught this recently despite how old it is and I couldn't help, but share. Imagine live action mirrors edge. Its filmed stylishly and show cases the Brazilian city of Sao Paolo, which also happens to be the setting for the next Max Payne game. Check it out and gawk in awe as this free runner plays on top of sky scrapers overlooking the entire skyline of Sao Paolo.

Nas and the 17 year old

The winner of a the Red Bull sponsored make a beat for Nas contest finished and the winner emerged as 17 year old Charles “C-Sick” Dumazer. Would be producers from all over the world sent in their beats and surprisingly C-sick won it with only a toshiba laptop and FL studio 7.

I heard the song and to be honest I liked it a lot. The beat that this young kid made is a head bopper for sure. Congratulations to C-Sick and wish him the best in the future.

The Ecstatic or The Undecided?

Rumors were circulating earlier this week that Mos Def's the Ecstatic [once again] will be pushed back/delayed until August 24th. I heard the rumor, but nothing from the man himself. Nevertheless I was still uneasy. I mean the album did leak a day ago and I would understand if they wanted to push it back because of that fact, but in this day and age it's pretty much useless to fight piracy no matter what form of media your trying to distribute.

Anyway long story short a rep of Mr. Smith aka Mos Def denied the rumors and clarified that the album is still on track for a June 9th release.

A friend of mine is about to embark on an epic 350 mile ride from Tokyo to Osaka. The ride is going to be about a week long and they're gonna film the entire thing documentary style. The crew has 13 members and this 35 minute documentary will show the highs and lows of this long, long, long trek from one side of a country to another.

Dela is just a good producer and that's a conclusion I've come to after playing out three of his prior albums. He makes good beats and finds dope lyricists to spit over them. More often then not the emcees he finds are perfect for the task at hand and it shows in the final product. I know i say this a lot, but do yourself a favor and cop this one if you love Jazz or Hip Hop

Today (technically yesterday) Sony finally revealed the motion controller that's been in rumored development for quite some time. To be honest the controller itself looks stupid. Well maybe stupid isn't the word. What I mean to say it looks like a vibrator. Yes, plain and simple. Anyway that's not the point. The point here is that the thing works amazingly well and looks to be more accurate then any motion sensing technology on the market today (sorry wii fans) and ultimately that's all that really matters.

Just started listening to this brooklyn native and I have to say I kind of like what I hear. It's definitely not hip hop. She describes her genre of music as rock/pop/soul on her myspace page. I honestly don't see it as a specific genre, but it's up to your ear to decide.
