Imeem is Dead

In a world where you can get anything you want for the right price. Myspace has successfully destroyed one of the best things on the web.

I'm talking about Myspace buying out Imeem.

Imeem WAS a website where users could search, listen, and upload music. Other users could then search for the songs they liked or find new ones and create vast playlists for other users to listen to. It was a great hub for music lovers and a great place for finding artists and compiling playlists for everyone to enjoy or "discover".

Unfortunately when you go to the www.imeem.com url you're instantly directed to myspace. I might be rambling and I apologize, but I'm a little pissed off and all of my hate and anger is directed soley at myspace and that bastard of a man, Tom.

Paul Han

This is Paul Han. I've known Paul for almost a year now and in that whole time he never mentioned anything really special about himself really. I used to just think he was another homie that skated. One day I heard from another friend that Paul was mad good at Yo-yo and you know I kinda thought alright he's probably just one of those kids that can do the basic stuff blah blah. Over a period of a few months I start hearing all this crazy stuff like he's national Champion but I never really saw anything or heard anything from him that said " I'm fuckin good," Which is probably a really good thing but the fact that he hid such a large part of his life for so long is pretty funny. Well anyway on day I looked it up on youtube (where you can find all the answers to life's mysteries) and I found this little gem. All I gotta say is his hand eye coordination is amazing.

Multiple Personalities

Alright so Within like a few months I've had three friends (Jazz and miguel count as one person) who have fallen victim to the blog hype. Like I said before people seem to have a fascination with telling strangers about their day and the friends in their pathetic lives, and for some reason those strangers love that and they eat it up checking back everyday just waiting for a new post. Although there is nothing important there people believe there is. Anyway my Friend Matt just created a blog called "Chocolate Peanut Butter," wait..... Or is it http://mattsblogisdope.blogspot.com/ ? Someone seems to have a case of multiple personality disorder. Anyway if you have some time I suggest that you check it out and if you've checked out any of the other blogs I posted you'll see some familiar faces on there. Matt's blog is full of semi intresting photos and if you're lucky you'll even get a taste of the "Matt Reiss humor." So if you have you have sometime stop on by and satisfy your hunger for a look into random strangers lives..

Music's Got Me Feelin So Free

So I came across something pretty interesting the other day some of you out there may know and some of you may not I know I didn't. Anyhow in 2003 Daft Punk came out with a full one hour Japanese animated film titled "Interstella 555." The film is the "visual realization" of the album Discovery by Daft Punk. Each track from the album has been animated as an episode in the story of the abduction and rescue of an interstellar pop band. The film was produced by the creators of the Discovery album, along with Toei Animation, under the supervision of Leiji Matsumoto. The film has no dialogue whatsoever and the whole story is told using only Daft Punk's Music and the visual to fit the track. It really is a work of art and if you have the time why not enjoy some good music and some optically pleasing artwork.

Fun In the Rain

So me and a buddy participated in the recent Martin photo scavenger hunt (race) and it was really fun.

We were each given a piece of paper with a set of locations on it. The spots were everywhere. A rider could potentially have to ride to ocean beach and take a photo of the golden gate park windmills then loop all the way back to take a photo of pier 30 or even Lusty Ladies. Basically the plan was to hit as many spots in one hour and to take a photo of yourself at each location with yourself in the picture to show you were there. You'd then have to make it back to Azaela's (starting point on Hayes and Gough) before the hour was up. For every 5 minutes you were late you'd lose 1 entire point, which was one location that you hit up.

Mike Martin threw a great race with some awesome prizes and well done mapping of San Francisco. For more info and photos from the event check out Mash's online mag.

Make a music video for Common

For all those would be directors out there look no further for your big break because Common needs a music video done and he's asking random people like yourself.

The above is the promo for this train wreck. Wondering why I called it a train wreck? Well last time something like this came out (speaking directly about mtv's adventure into this "let a fan direct a video for their favorite band thingy") it ended up being terrible. Sure it's possible some second coming of Spielberg might be found amongst the green screen made videos, but how is someone possibly going to make a quality video if they don't even have common in it?

I just really don't think this is a good idea, but I hope i'm wrong. I really do.

Kid Cudi Interview

Kid Cudi stopped by to speak with DJ Semtex about his album coming out in a few short days.

To be honest this is one of the first interviews I've sat and watched with Kid Cudi in it, and he seems like a pleasant guy. During the interview around 6 minutes he busts a free style to what I think is an instrumental from his album and it's definitely a pretty good showcase of his skills.

And don't worry, no blackberries were present in the making of this freestyle.

It takes the Cake

First of all I apologize to anyone whose come to the blog the last couple of days and noticed our posts slowing down to the speed at which ants would take to climb Mt. Everest. A lot has happened life wise to some of us within the last couple of days so we've been a bit busy.

HOWEVER

I've been spending my late weekday nights (whenever I had the time) in front of my ps3 playing this quirky little game that goes by the name of Fat Princess. No Pun intended, but this game takes the cake for deliciously brutal RTS, capture the flag, brawler, 32 online multi player combat. If your not too confused with the name or set of words to describe it I'll give you a quick rundown before you watch the review I'm about to post by IGN.

Two opposing kingdoms, one red and the other blue. Are at an endless war with one another to save (wait for it) a princess that the other kingdom has kidnapped. See the reasoning behind all of this is because one Prince is coming to town (looking for a bride) and the King wants this single Prince to choose his daughter over the other and creates this brilliant idea to kidnap the other princess until after the wedding. Well the saying goes that great minds think alike (or that fools seldom differ) and surprise, surprise the other King had the same idea so both princesses are kidnapped on the same night. A huge war starts and millions upon millions of little mini soldiers, archers, mages, workers, mages, and priests are brutally dismembered, blown apart, punctured with arrows, and stabbed to death in order to get their chubby maiden back to their matching colored throne.

Sounds fun right? Well it is. Imagine 32 players all hacking and slashing their way across a colorful battlefield to eventually get to an over sized balloon that was once their little princess. After that they have to work together to carry this jumbo whale girl back to their castle with the help of their teammates. I want to say more, but instead just check out IGN's video review for Fat Princess for more info on the game play and to see how awesome it looks in motion.

Pixar's Ancient Book of Sex and Science

The love she had for this monster of science was forbidden. Every night after hours she would escape down into the laboratory where he was locked away. He satisfied her insatiable appetite for lust and danger, while she full filled his desire for the sensual flesh of a woman. The scientific community frowned upon such a tastelessly erotic relationship between a girl and a mutant. However, while the scientists' disdain for such acts were strong, they watched. They always watched.

Forbidden Lust by Nate Wragg

Pixar artists have banded together to create "The Ancient Book of Sex and Science". A rather non traditional Disney (but not Disney) art book when you look at the pedigree and usual audience these guys draw for.

The Ancient Book of Sex and Science is the second book of a four part set. Editor and Animator for Pixar Scott Morse said:

"Well, we're usually pretty introverted, so maybe that makes us a little kinkier. And there's a tradition of us loving Playboy cartoons and naughtier things in general. We all remember drawing in the margins of our textbooks when we were younger."

He believes that that physicality and the exploration of our physical world was a natural progression.

They're similar in that they both have correlating patterns, like the rhythm of math and sex, or like music with peaks and valleys, highs and lows. They can both be very calculated.

I personally think the art looks fantastic. Now maybe yall will stop denying all those stories about hidden sexual secrets buried in past Disney films.

Blue Monday FG Video: Free and Easy

These guys seem pretty consistent with releases and here we are again with yet another release. They seem to have a great community vibe going on in the video and it's no wonder since they hold rides every Friday. Actually I was able to see some of the riders in here during a video submitted to the BFF09 and the crowd was pretty hyped over what some of them were doing in that film. Mos Def & Dj Honda reunite

Photo via Wired

Dj Honda has a new album dropping August 5th and here's a little taste of what's to come.

DJ Honda - Magnetic Arts feat. Mos Def

Personally I think the track is a little on the short side (runs@2:30), but if you wanted a definition of short, but sweet then here it is. Mos recycles some lyrics from Universal Magnetic, but they fit super nice over this production and the song sounds good overall. I don't want to be a critic, but if I was I'd give it two thumbs up.
